Our Presence in Brussels

The Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic has a strong presence in Brussels, through its own office and membership in BusinessEurope, the European Economic and Social Committee, as well as the joint Czech Business Representation to the EU (CEBRE). Through all these channels, the Confederation strives to achieve the most favorable setting of legislative and non-legislative measures adopted at the European level that could have a significant impact on the business environment and competitiveness of our members.

Brussels Office

The Confederation has set up its own office in Brussels, at the heart of the EU institutions, managed by its Director and Permanent Delegate to BusinessEurope. The Permanent Delegate, in cooperation with the Confederations´ experts, coordinates the exchange of information, actively advocates for the interests of the Confederation and its members at the European level and builds strong partnerships with key stakeholders across Europe, ensuring that the voice of Czech businesses is heard in European policy-making.

BusinessEurope

Since 1993, the Confederation has been a member of BusinessEurope, the Confederation of European Business. BusinessEurope is a leading advocate for growth and competitiveness at the European level and a recognised social partner. It represents 42 national business federations from 36 European countries. On their behalf, it regularly interacts with the EU institutions and other stakeholders in Europe and internationally, promoting common positions of the European business community. Our membership and active involvement in BusinessEurope is the most effective way to influence the development of initiatives, policies and legislative and non-legislative actions of the EU institutions. It serves as a platform for actively promoting the interests of Czech businesses, while strengthening cooperation and seeking consensus with other European business federations.

In addition, the Confederation also works closely with European business federations in various regionally and thematically focused business coalitions, which has proved to be an efficient way to promote common interests.

European Economic and Social Committee

The Confederation is also represented in the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), which is an advisory EU body that issues opinions to the other EU institutions and the voice of organised civil society in Europe. It represents employers, workers and civil society organisations. The expertise of its 329 members helps optimise the quality of EU policies and legislation. This is another avenue for promoting the interests of Czech employers through negotiated opinions and regular dialogue with the EU institutions and other key stakeholders.
