BusinessEurope published a new paper "BusinessEurope views on digital trade" with proposed measures to facilitate international digital trade; promote convergence of regulations and to create a better investment environment.

Following the European Parliament's rejection last month of a draft new EU-US data protection framework and its call on the European Commission to reopen negotiations with the US, BusinessEurope has published a summary of its recommendations for the future direction of digital trade.

The document, published this week provides an overview of the most important barriers to digital trade, while also providing a clear map of the legislative environment that currently regulates international digital trade. In particular, it lists 15 key principles that the EU should be promoting on behalf of its citizens and businesses when negotiating digital trade, and suggests realistic ways to best approach the process today.
