The newly elected European Parliament and the old-new European Commission represent a great opportunity to adjust existing EU policies to maintain Europe's global competitiveness. But how can prosperity be restored? Which steps are necessary to ensure that Europe does not lag behind economically, technologically, or in terms of security? The Confederation of Czech Industries has summarized specific requirements and key steps for strengthening competitiveness, the single market, and trade partnerships.

We bring you an overview of the currently most important proposals and specific requirements of the largest employers and business associations in the Czech Republic addressed to all European institutions. In connection with the 2024-2029 strategic agenda, European politicians must focus on effectively strengthening European competitiveness. An agreement on European industry, a consistent legislative detox, bold investments in applied research, innovation, and key technologies, realistic energy and climate targets, and, last but not least, the modernization of European transport policy will be essential for restoring prosperity in Europe.
